Being Curious, Being Courageous and Being Kind No images? Click here Curious. Courageous. Kind.#37 Meee Moments (July 2022) A very Happy July lovely people! We hope you had a wonderful June and managed to enjoy some Jubilee festivities. For me the most memorable image of the Jubilee is of Paddington Bear having tea with the Queen. What a brilliant reminder of the genius of creation (there's going to a Paddington 3 film btw!). Amazing, but true...Paddington Bear wasn't the first person to turn up at a train station with just a label and a sandwich. During WW2, when Michael Bond (the author of Paddington Bear) was a soldier, thousands of children were evacuated from cities and towns in the UK to the countryside to escape the bombing, and this inspired Michael Bond to think about Paddington. How lovely is that? Oh and, Paddington is voiced by actor Ben Whishaw in the films, who is the youngest ever actor to play Q in the James Bond films. How great is that...he plays Paddington Bear and Q! For this wonderful month of July we're going to look at Being Curious, Being Courageous and Being Kind...we've been hosting various roundtable and webinar events and want to share some of the good stuff we've learnt. So here goes...
The Magic in a Button...We love, love, love this story... In one of our FUEL programmes we have a wonderful exercise called '10 Things'. We show images of 6 everyday objects and ask participants how many things they could do with that object. One of the objects is a button and in one session a young lady, Megan, asked if she could keep the button. "Of course" the tutor replied and Megan named and kept Barry the Button. Megan said it has helped her to think before speaking or acting! How beautiful is that? Megan now has two buttons. One she carries with her (Barry) and one she keeps at home (Bert) in case Barry gets lost. Whatever you find to help support you through life's challenges...be creative and courageous.
You either do...or you don't!We loves Marmite! And we know that there are many who don't! We see Meee a bit like Marmite. You either love us, or you don't. And we're okay with that. You are never going to please, or to appeal to everyone. And you don't need to. You just need to be happy with who you are, believe in what you're doing and be better everyday. So, the next time you find yourself in a situation that you're doubting yourself, or what you do...take a minute and ask yourself the Marmite question? Does it matter? If it's a no, then move on. If it's a yes, then what can you do about it?
One Day...Or?We LOVE this too! Often it's hard to change habits, and sometimes it feels impossible to change or do something new. So, here's a thought (and any change starts with a thought). Try this one. Instead of thinking 'One Day, I will...' think this is 'Day One, and this is the day to start'... Once you have made that choice you feel differently. And the more we accept change and accept we can change things...we do!
GRIT, David Hieatt...Oh my life, you really do need to listen to this... We recently recorded a podcast with David Hieatt from the DO Lectures, Howies and Hiut Denim. We've been fans of David for years and love his curious, courageous and kind approach to life. His knowledge, insights and advice on business, thinking and life are liquid gold. If you do just one thing today then listen to this podcast (link below).
JBNThis is taken from Chapter 19 of our 'Meee in a Work Minute book' and is such a simple thought on Kindness. JBN is an acronym for 'Just Be Nice'. This might sound really obvious, but often, especially in the business environment, we are expected to be efficient or professional. Yet this doesn't always incorporate being nice. Why not? Being nice to others is just smart business. People will do more for people they like... So, JBN x We're offering a FREEE 30-minute webinar on 'How to create Magical Cultures' on 4th of July 2022. Based on our recent webinar and various events we've been attending we're hosting this 30-minute webinar as a treasure chest of simple things that we can all do to create Magical Cultures. And, when we refer to 'Cultures' we mean all of our own environments (home, work, social, community). Whether you work in a small or large organisation, or work remotely as a freelancer this 30-minute discussion will be invaluable. |
